    Ketamine for Post-intubation Sedation. Experiences?

    Thanks! But if someone has very little fat tissue, where does the anesthetic go after it leaves the target organs? Would this cause a relative increase in potency in a very lean individual?

    Ketamine for Post-intubation Sedation. Experiences?

    Since we've got the big guns are here and we're talking about Ketamine: why is ketamine dosing based on ideal body weight (height) rather than actual weight? It seems weird to me that a morbidly obese pt receive the same dose as their slender counterpart. Based on the few experiences I've had...

    Charged with stalking and harassment (misdemeanors), will this effect my career?

    It's definitely a much more common occurrence than a random typo involving a nearby key, since you never see "womsn" or "womwn". I just think many people don't know the difference and basically guess "a" or "e" each time.

    Weird pupil dilation

    With a bit of Googling, I just came up with: Afferent pupillary defect or Marcus Gunn pupil. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15752283 But this is a sign, not the underlying cause.

    Charged with stalking and harassment (misdemeanors), will this effect my career?

    Since grammar Naziism has been invoked: why do so many people seem to confused "woman" and "women"? It works just like "man" vs "men" (singular vs plural), but nobody confuses those two...

    Have you ever put a mask on because it was smelly?

    I once bothered wearing a surgical mask with a squirt of hospital-grade air freshener on the exterior. Worked great. But most times I don't have advanced warning.

    There is no way for us (or anyone) to know. It's largely just random probability.

    Seizure =/

    It's worth noting that while they look kinda similar, the Lazarus reflex is not the same thing as decorticate posturing.

    Handcuff key? Do you carry one?

    FYI, boots made to hide a handcuff key are only marketed as "tactical gear" to avoid the bad PR of marketing them to the habitual criminal offender demographic. And that way you also reach the paranoid anti-government survivalist and militant types, who buy all their clothes and accessories out...

    Handcuff key? Do you carry one?

    Absolutely! Can't tell you how many times I've accidentally handcuffed myself to someone while performing my "stripper cop" routine. But for EMS, no.

    Can Anybody Else Verify This???

    There is no such thing as narcaine. Naloxone is the generic, and Narcan is the trade name.

    Can Anybody Else Verify This???

    Could you elaborate on this idea? Why would they be punished? They could already throw him in a car and dump him off in front of the ER, but their driving would endanger a bunch of people. Why do you care if they go to jail for drug use? (Which isn't even a crime, BTW. Possession is what...

    Seizure =/

    Why are you so hung up on the idea of decorticate posturing? That would be a sign of brain stem herniation, which he certainly did not have if his LOC improved at the ER. You'll eventually notice that some patients just play possum (or overdramatize) on scene or in the ambulance and then...
