    Hands On defibrillation - HOD

Old article on this, interesting reading. Some studies suggest two pairs of gloves are sufficient with bipahsic shocks. https://shortcoatsinem.blogspot.com/2012/10/double-gloving-it-hands-on.html Precharging is great, but any pause is lowering/bottoming out the chest compression fraction and...

    Paramedic Fly Car Agencies

I worked at a place with two person engine staffing and we would occasionally have to leave the engine on scene when hands were needed. A bit conspicuous and no door locks but alas it was always there when another station came to get it.

    Appendicitis.... Cardiac issue

Ectopic pregnancy at the top of the list sure, but this could be literally anything. Go talk to your CES or QA people, they can get you some actual followup. This is just a guessing game.

    911 EMT Jobs near Denver

I hear not good things about Mile-High and Columbine, would stay away. Friend that worked at Mountain States described it as "bleh." I think iCare is probably a good place to work but I'm not sure if doing flight transfers all day would be what you are looking for.

Crew obtained refusal but no vitals?

If the patient befell some sort of harm then sure, they could be held liable. But failing to do a proper assessment as gauged by peers on a patient that consents to it and then obtaining a refusal is not good practice even if they can't be held "liable." I would bet your guidelines have a...

Lol they won't do "medicine" but BLS can do needle decompression? First I've ever heard of a BLS (non military) agency doing that.

Not sure how everyone feels about Kaiser personally (all you Californians), but Denver is now a Kaiser city and I honestly love it. If managed care is the way of the future, then I hope this is what it looks like. So nice to not have to call around for referrals and find specialists that take...

    Paramedic Fly Car Agencies

I would hardly say this is an exhaustive list, but from thoughts on the topic as I would do a lot to work in such a model. All of Delaware (each of the three counties) Much (most?) of New Jersey Many parts of Pennsylvania A few in Massachusetts (Lowell and Lawerence hospitals as well as...

Never understood the need for agency affiliation. Neither Colorado nor Massachusetts (my old home) required it.

You don't pay anything for recerts and I can't remember what I paid to get certified initially. I think the money goes to an EMS specific mental health fund. Now I need to figure out if I'm eligible to be licensed or not, which is new this year.

One hour online turnaround time to renew my Colorado Medic card. This is how it should be.

    Trauma Shears Recommendations?

Seems fine to me. Soak em in cavicide and wash with copious amounts of water, then cavicide again. Generally I also try to not to cut through ickiness with anything.

    Trauma Shears Recommendations?

I like my raptors. Leatherman pro deal keeps the price down and I’ve used the 20 year warranty twice without issue. Mostly I got them because they fold and are easy to keep on a belt or radio strap in a case that actually holds them in. The ring cutter actually works quite well, I enjoy having...

    Supplies

I have never worked anywhere that did one for one restock on anything but linen. Every now and again I can get a pressure infuser but that’s really all I can think of.

    Seattle medic one

Agreed. Nonetheless in this state there is no AHJ for EMS. The only thing guaranteed to citizens in Colorado is wildfire control and law enforcement. My FD has provided ambulance service for decades because no else was. FDs providing EMS is not always a revenue grab. At this point it's just...

The International should censure them, especially since Hawaii EMS is unionized labor. That’s awful, way to show support. Of course nothing will happen.

Idk while I don’t like being forced, it’s an unfortunate reality of working for an FD that doesn’t have part time people. It’s just not possible to have so many extra staff that there is no such thing as mandatory OT.

    Salary Keeping Pace with Inflation?

She would have a much better job at AMR Colorado Springs… There is constant EMT hiring occurring here (medics too). Starting pay is 17/hour for no experience and up to 20.57/hour with prior experience. The system is way better, Denver AMR is mostly IFT with Denver Health leftover 911 overflow...
