    emt school in miami,FL

With the tuition increases at Miami Dade, it costs roughly the same to do the EMT and Medics there as it would at AMA after you add up all the lab fees, uniforms and books that they require.

    emt school in miami,FL

I agree with you and I think your plans are a good way to go. I'm planning on Miami Dade for my medic and A.S. - Good luck! You won't regret doing your EMT there!

    emt school in miami,FL

Hi, I attended AMA and was pleased with their EMT program. I really felt that I got a lot out of it and that the instructors were top notch. They are indeed a private school - they were just accredited by ABHES - so take what you will from that. I can only speak from personal experience and my...

    ABHES vs. COAEMSP accreditation

Nope but they claim - CLAIM - to be COAEMSP accredited as well lol.

    ABHES vs. COAEMSP accreditation

You're right - it's disheartening to see medvance, brown mackie and everest among others that are accredited by this organization! Not a good omen methinks.......

    ABHES vs. COAEMSP accreditation

Recently my school received the ABHES accreditation and I am interested in attending the paramedic course there (was impressed by the EMT course). Is it better to be accredited by COAEMSP? Is there any notable difference between the two agencies when it comes to recognition? Thank you.

    Still waiting on state approval

I too am waiting for state approval (Florida) - did you guys write a letter to the state office and they replied with the pertinent info? I sent an email asking whether or not I had to snail mail them anything paperwork-wise; no reply thus far. Does the school that I attended have to mail the...

    Strange school policy?

Come to think of it.......I think it's possible that even the instructors don't know the actual questions from the tests - they do not write the exams, it is through the official website of the AAOS book that I mentioned we work out of. Our reviews consist of general powerpoint slides - again...

    Strange school policy?

Thanks Hellsbells, I do feel that I have a pretty good grip on the material and I didn't consider that they may have to be following specific protocols for the accreditation process, nor did I consider that their method encourages us to go back and thoroughly read everything (which we all do). I...

    Strange school policy?

Well it IS a private school in the process of accreditation. The most frustrating thing is that the policy is not explained by anyone. If we ask the instructors why the policy exists the answer is always "Don't know. That's just the way it is." The tests are not on paper nor scantron, they are...

    Strange school policy?

I don't know how EMT-B courses are typically structured, but in mine we study about 5 chapters per week and then have a computerized test on those, along with other little chapter quizzes that must be completed online. These quizzes and tests are all based on the book "Emergency Care and...

    BP Cuffs?

What's the norm on a truck? Is it the old fashioned stethoscope/pump method or are electronic ones typically used? It would seem that an electronic one would be more accurate and less of a hassle (not saying it's much of a hassle anyway) in a noisy environment. Sorry if this is a foolish...

    American Medical Academy Miami,FL

Perhaps I can shed some light on this school - I am a current student in their EMT-B course. I was admittedly very skeptical when I found this school online due to its somewhat poor website (its new website still has some glaring grammatical issues). I went for a tour and was impressed enough...
