    RMA in Orlando

So if you're familiar with Orlando you know there's only two games in town. I'm pretty unhappy with where I work as it's strictly IFT, and some things about the company itself. I'm thinking about trying to get hired with RMA. Before I make the leap though I had some questions about what RMA...

    Vanbulances (Type II) for ALS?

I guess I should have also pointed out my experience. My IFT has probably 16 ALS units, 12 of which are Vambulances. While they are pretty easy to drive, what with being vans, I hate trying to work in the back. Trying to get several things done at once is almost impossible. However our type III...

    Vanbulances (Type II) for ALS?

I'm on a kick right now about learning more about ambulances right now. I've been reading about the various types and I've found a question I can't answer. Is there any articles or information that you guys are aware of recommending against Type II ambulance (Vanbulances/IceCreamtrucks) for ALS...

What are hobbies of EMTs and Paramedics?

I do competitive pistol shooting, try to run and exercise when I can. I try to read while I'm at work instead of just ****ing around on my phone or sleeping (not that there's anything wrong with those activities every once in awhile).

    EMS agencies in Indiana

Sadly it's the same situation in Central FL as well, but the cost of living is higher so making is a non-fire fighter is even harder.

    EMS agencies in Indiana

Thanks for the info Flyer. That's definitely food for thought though, since I could make as much as EMT up there as I'm making as a Medic for a private service down here! I'll put my app in and start following them on FB.

    EMS agencies in Indiana

While that would be my ultimate goal I'm still a very new medic. At the time I could convieably move I'll only have a year of being a medic under my belt. I checked their website an found EMT positions but none for medics. Perhaps I'll call them and see what's up. I kinda feel like that...

    EMS agencies in Indiana

So from google I know there are a number of Ambulance companies in Indiana, especially around Indianapolis. I would like to move back there but to effectively make my case to my wife (and to make sure it's viable) I'm trying to figure out how much I could earn as a Paramedic. I've found...

Lake EMS or EVAC Central FL

I do work for AA so I do have some EMS experience. I'm about half way done with medic school and I was under the impression neither dept would be hiring before I was done anyways. In all honesty I suppose it doesn't matter I would take a job with either dept since I'm obviously not in a...

Lake EMS or EVAC Central FL

I live in the Central Florida area and I'm looking a 911 job but I'm not terribly interested in becoming a fire fighter (no offense to any fire fighters, just not my cup of tea). The only two non-fire based EMS system in my area that I'm aware of are Lake EMS and EVAC. I don't much about...

The big question is...MD/DO, PA or NP?

I'm tackling a similar question, although mine is a little more forward thinking. I've still got one year of Medic classes, but even after a few months of working in EMS I know this is not something I would want to do forever. So my question is NP or PA. The decision kind of hinges on if I...

BLS reports all kind of sound the same?

After a few months of working for a non-911 service I've noticed something. I feel like my reports are all very similar. It seems like I write a lot of pertinent negatives. Like for an abdomen I'm still doing a quick head to toe and putting in my report, so I'm going on about chest rise and...

    Being an EMT-B and CNA?

Sorry if this topic has been done before. I tried searching but didn't get any results. Anyways, I've got my EMT-B right now but I'm still having trouble finding work. I had a chance to talk to an HR manager for a local hospital who recommend I get certified as a CNA. She said the CNAs get...

    The Who's Working Out Thread

I ran in the Disney Tower of Terror Ten Miler last night. I did really good. Better than I thought really.

    The Who's Working Out Thread

Just did a little 3.1 mile run at a 8'59"min/mile. Hadn't been out in awhile. Just needed to shake off the rust.

    The Who's Working Out Thread

Ran 6.3 miles a a 8'5"min/mil pace, while pushing a jogging stroller. I'm pretty pleased with this. I was sort of trying for 10 miles (to practice for the Tower of Terror Ten Miler I'm doing in October) but I kinda pooped out. Maybe if I had started before 830 when it was so damn hot haha...

Benefits of being a 68W in a civilian setting?

CFal already said it, but yeah I'm talking about the Guard, not Active duty. It sounds like there really isn't much a benefit in terms of knowledge or skills. And since I've already got my EMT license, it wouldn't even help me in that regard. Since I'm starting a paramedic program in...

    The Who's Working Out Thread

Ran 3.1 miles at a 8:34min/mile. Just a little run to finish the day. I'm trying to get my distance back up but it's hard to find the time!

Benefits of being a 68W in a civilian setting?

So this may be a bit of weird question, but I'm about to get out of the National Guard and I'm very slightly considering reupping to become a 68W (I'm previously an 11B). As I'm trying to get into the EMS field I was wondering if there's any benefit to becoming a 68W in terms of medical...

    Is all experience equal?

This is something I'm concerned about. My current job has more flexibility and is closer. I think I'm going to pass on this one and keep working to find something more inline with what I really want to do. Thanks for the input guys.
