Yah, my thought was give 500cc and then see where she stands. I was just about to draw up the Lopressor, but something in my gut was telling me to call MC. So idk, and this guy use to be our medical director... so ? haha

    Lopressor or No'pressor

We get called to a local nursing home for a female that is weak, increased temp, lethargic, and SOB. On scene we find a 72yo female laying supine in bed with staff in the room. Staff stated that pts condition has been deteriorating for the past couple days, but do not know when it exactly...

    BLS Ambulance Staffing

There are a lot of Volunteer BLS services around here. First Responders are always in the back doing pt care with an EMT. So yes, they can/do ride, as there has to be an EMT (or higher) in back.

    Airtraq

I have heard of those... but think a GlideScope would be better to carry on trucks. They do have Reusable and Single Use configurations for the GlideScope, of course the single use would work great for EMS. They have been being advertised on JEMS for a long time now. Here is a picture of a...

So those of you that work for services that have the Drive Cams... Do they also incorporate RoadSafe, or do they feel the Cams are enough? We have RoadSafe here, there has been talk about getting the Cams, but nothing has come of it yet. tydek

    First Ride Out

Haha, just relax and remember to keep an open mind during it. Ask A LOT of questions and do as much pt care as you can. My recommendation is to talk to the crew before the day starts. I always pull students aside and ask them what they want to learn today. I ask what they feel comfortable doing...

Effect of CA++ or just inconvenient timing?

We carry Metoprolol here. The one time I have had to use it, it got the job done. The pt did not experience any of the side effects associated with the drug, except a little dizziness. I believe this service use to carry Cardizem, but found that it was easier to store Metoprolol on the trucks...

    What made you start?

I had always been somewhat interested in EMS... Every week my entire family would stop everything and watch Rescue 911 :p Well, what got me serious about EMS is Boy Scouts... yes I said Boy Scouts :D We had this "Disaster In the Valley" camp out. We reviewed basic first aid, plus some more...

    Stepping stone (Rant)

I plan on staying a Paramedic :) Of course, I will get my CCP and continue my education in the EMS feild. I have thought about going into Nursing, but always find more reasons to stay in EMS. I like it here and plan to stay for a long, long time :D tydek

Anyone know of any FREE online practice tests for EMT-P?

I know of an awesome website, its quizes are set up just as the NR test is. Even split into the different categories.... now there is a catch, its not free, but is VERY reasonable. I used it, and it helped be a lot! Not so much on knowledge, but more on how to read a question and break it down...
