    Grad Degrees

So what makes a good medic? Do you need, or should you have, a degree, to become a "good medic"? Does your degree need to be in paramedicine, or is my degree in underwater basket weaving with a paramedic cert the same thing? Does that piece of paper mean much? should a degreed paramedic be...

Why can't Paramedics act off duty?

I would argue that being off duty while driving in a marked vehicle with proper equipment would be extremely poor optics, esp when the news says "@NomadicMedic keeps on driving while baby dies" or some other sensational headline Clarification: always on duty when you are in the car. That's...

Why can't Paramedics act off duty?

honestly, that's probably the best thing a knowledgeable provider can do: make sure the appropriate resources are on the way. This can be the helicopter, ALS, rescue company, or maybe even hazmat. The sooner they are requested, the sooner they can arrive. I've stopped at more crashes than I...

    Schedule ideas/suggestions

Low volume? the answer is 24/72s. My old FD did this, and they loved it. They were slow enough to get a good nights sleep, and still ensured proper coverage. Why does 24/72 not work for you?

    Schedule ideas/suggestions

going to be nearly impossible. 12s on a pittman schedule has the same staffing requirements as 24/72, and if you want to get ride of 12s, you will need to hire more staff. Also, do you need 24 hour coverage, or just bankers hours?

    Grad Degrees

Now job? 3 bugles and your own car with flashing lights? Honestly, I'm starting my M.S. next month, and I'm still not sure how beneficial it will be. I look at senior leadership, and I don't see many with masters degrees. But my job is paying for 80% of it, so it's worth it. In the fire...

Is Vol EMS still relevant in 2024

It is my dream that the nation's EMS system will be 100% staffed with full time personnel, who are able to handle all of their call volume on their own in a reasonable (as defined by the AHJ, the authority having jurisdiction) response time, without needing a first responder to "stop the clock."...

    And the jury is back

I read the report... and have questions... 1) Why was EMS called? it looks like someone was resisting arrest... does APD always call for EMS when someone is resisting arrest? 2) They didn't give ketamine until the ambulance got there. before the ambulance arrived, it seemed like the victim...

    And the jury is back

So EMS providers shouldn't do that? you have a violently resisting person, who is suspected of experiencing excited delirium, who the cops are actively fighting with... should the medics tell the cops to let the person go to see what is occurring? Especially when the person is "in custody of...

Anybody from Elko county Nevada ?

Two stations, 2 ALS units at the main station, and 1 at a substation (collocated at a rural fire department), all staffed 24/7. a 3rd station is in the works. How do responses work? someone calls 911, and the nearest ambulance goes. They have primary areas, but I'm sure you can have some...

I just don't know what to make out of this research study

Does it incorporate all types of breasts? like fake pornstar DDs that stay up right, even when they are supine? What about basketball sized ones? If the breast as so big they cover the sternum, what then? Did the study consider long and saggy ones, that fall into a woman's armpits once her...

    ALS/BLS Handover

Never heard of it in NJ, NY or NC... esp for hours. Seems to be very common in California, esp SoCal. I think the first time I ever heard of it was on this forum. I think the longest I have ever been in an ER just waiting was 30 minutes, and that was because the Charge nurse was having a...

    ALS/BLS Handover

question: why? the people appear stable; can they be "transferred" to the waiting room, with a report given to the triage nurse? You are tying up a BLS resource babysitting a patient, who might be waiting for hours, who doesn't need monitoring. They want to be seen in the ER; ERs have told...

IDF Elite Unit 669 Rescues Wounded Soldiers From Inside Gaza

Hamas didn't reject it, they accepted it, and then stole it for their own uses before it can be given to the hospital to fuel their generators.

No they didn't! that's a lie! Where is the proof? It's not like you have photos of a terrorist with an RPG at the Al-Quds Hospital right before he opened fire! Oh wait, here is the evidence: Source...

IDF Elite Unit 669 Rescues Wounded Soldiers From Inside Gaza

you mean the hospital with a terrorist command center located beneath it? with tunnels and enough fuel, artillery, and militants to keep committing acts of terror for months, yet they won't use the fuel to provide power to the hospital, while they use the innocent patients above them as human...
