Well it's a good thing we take decon (more or less) serious, all our turnouts go into an Extractor at the station, and we were washing off and scrubbing the rest of our other gear (helmets, masks, SCBAs, etc), but yeah, this one was not a clean fire by any means...

Well, apparantly I'm a year out of date, but Third Watch is back available on streaming (Tubi app) (Used to only be the first two seasons, but the 9/11 episode, and the remaining 4 seasons were unavailable due to some licensing squabbles over the music in the show of all things... I guess they finally figured that out and all 6 seasons are now available for free streaming (with ads of course)) And dang, for a 20 year old show, it def holds up (in a lot of ways even better than the current crop of shows centered on Fire/EMS/PD...)

That moment when there's more EMT/Medic coming out of the ambulance than were FFs off the Engine lol

(They were doing training both new EMT and Medic so had two FTOs and 4 total, we're running with only 3 FFs today lol)

Apparently one of the City Council Members suffered a cardiac arrest at a meeting... a meeting attended by our EMS Medical Director, the Fire Chief, and one of the Deputy Police Chiefs (who got to remember their CPR training and start bystander CPR and using one of the City Halls public access AEDs, and the patient survived and even reportedly regained consciousness...)

Well…now is the time to ask the council member for new stuff.

Stupid question, but what is a "Chore Jacket"? (Specifically a denim chore jacket). Is that an actual common term, or like a specific bit of regional slang?

Cause I mean, sure, I lived mostly in warmer states (lol) but I have also spent multiple years living in states where snow in the winter is an expected normal (cue the New Yorkers laughing at what North Carolina calls a snowstorm) and even with the other Army guys from all over, never heard of a "chore jacket" lol

For us it was literally what it says. Just an old denim jacket we wore when doing chores so we didn't get crap on our other clothing.

Yeah. Long denim jacket. Just another goofy jacket that hose monkeys embroider an IAFF logo on and wear so people thank them for their service.

hmm ,never heard of such, at least as a specific type, where someone would say "chore jacket" and I should picture the exact cut/style lol
Vs just, you know, a jacket you happen to be wearing cuz it's chilly out, doing chores or not *shrugs*

I’m betting it’s a NY thing that spread…because NY is the model for uniform wear…sigh.
