Thank you for the replies. So far I haven't been able to come up with the word. It was something that the patient would have no way of knowing we were talking about him/her or the situation. This is driving me nuts! Thanks again for your help.

I went on a call as part of my clinicals to a hotel fire. A labrador was found dead. I ended up crying near some bushes. Other than that I don't really get upset. And maybe that is why I was good at my job. I didn't become a vet for a reason!
