    High Winds and NOT RESPONDING?

We never stop responding. There's been times when I'll go ahead of the rig in my SUV, just because I can get there faster/not get stuck.

    Best cure for a hangover

I usually do Ibuprofen and Gatorade before bed, seems to do the trick. Oh, don't forget to order food before you go to bed or have some made, so much better in the morning when you don't have to actually make the food. ;)

    EMT in the works

Listen to your preceptors. If you have a know-it-all attitude, drop it, or you'll get flushed like a turd. (Which from your post you don't seem to have, but it's good advice) Some patients will make you want to throw them out of the back, get thick skin now. Study groups are also a good...

    Major Issue With New Partner

Ahh another update... He asked me, "do you want lights and siren????" at midnight, with a stable, DNR patient. I told him absolutely not, he waited until I was turned around doing stuff and flipped the lights on, throwing me all over the back of the rig.. Nothing was done, again. Then the...

    Major Issue With New Partner

He is on probation, I'm not sure what the deal is. Of course I saw my supervisor fall asleep in our refresher class yesterday, so.... Nope, no union. I don't normally care for them, since the only experience I've had with one wasn't good at all - but starting one may be a good idea at this...

    Major Issue With New Partner

That's my view on it. I will not allow my safety or the patient's safety to be jeopardized. If that makes me a narc or a complainer, oh well. I'd rather be viewed as an :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored: than dead... I apparently am being partially blamed...

    Major Issue With New Partner

No union, I have to see risk management tomorrow and get a hand x-ray, so I'll speak to them as well. My friend is working tonight with him. Said they had a level 1 and the guy completely freaked out... So he'll be speaking to our supervisor in the morning as well.

    hiring process average time

This. You could always check around clinics and hospitals as well. It's not as 'glamorous' as being on the rig, but you'll still learn skills and patient communication. Especially in an ER, which would expose you to a lot of situations you would otherwise not see.

Same age, if anything he's a couple months younger.

    Major Issue With New Partner

He's 30, but yes, he does live with his parents. His father made him get his EMT and this job, so that he can move out. I honestly think that's the main issue here, he says he wants to do this job, but was forced into it. He had a job at another service here, but just stopped showing up during...

Youtube video- Detroit EMS: No Unit Available

I doubt there's enough revenue there to justify moving in. Some of the suburbs are very bad, others are very nice. Kind of like Chicago...

    Major Issue With New Partner

I'm the third medic they've placed him with in less than two months. It's not so much what I'd like to do, as what I can do. I don't know what my choices are in the matter. I just don't want my patients to suffer and I definitely don't want to get injured again. I have, and I am going to...

    Major Issue With New Partner

First of all, I'm new here - so, hello! I've been in EMS for 11 years now, straight out of high school and don't want to do anything else. Still love it just as much as when I started. Anyways, I work for a county service. I like everyone, of course there's little annoyances here and there...
