    Medic working BLS only.

I disagree. Working BLS, the medic only has the equipment and authorization to treat at a BLS level. But you cannot remove their ability to make better field diagnoses.

    Fellow shooting enthusiasts:

I've had a P6 and a P232 and Sigs are solid, well-built guns. I'm not crazy enough about the SA/DA to use them but if it works for you, you made a good decision.

    Fellow shooting enthusiasts:

Yep..but I've never seen anyone shoot themselves while unholstering in a Raven or Bladetech, either, nor have I seen anyone get a gun stuck in another commercially made holster. There have been a number of injuries, all exactly the same, done in training exercises. I've seen it happen...

    Medic working BLS only.

Actually, I read all your posts and have said nothing impolite. Why do you insist on taking offense?

    Medic working BLS only.

You don't seem to see any point in him looking anyone over. Bottom line is you can't change other people. He's a medic. He has a much greater level of training and therefore responsibility for patients than you do. If he's a jerk, he's a jerk. You can't change that. You can either refuse to...

Thigh injury says Serpa strikes again. Anyway, yeah, I've seen it happen and now carry a small, very basic kit..gloves, Israeli, TQ, in a small pouch, on the line with me. I could care less about whacker designation, either way. Ambulance response time was >15 minutes last time..rural area.

Patient care should take a back seat to egos. The medic, with or without equipment, should be better able to evaluate a patient and determine best available treatment and when/if to call for appropriate assistance. Getting your feelings hurt isn't helping the patient.

Rubberneckers, Lookie Loos, and other Civilian Interference Stories

Because obviously gynecologists never learn anything about medicine beyond looking at vaginas. I don't even know what they do the other 9 years of school.

You won't get this one. Status post Shotgun GSW.

I had an employee once whose wound from minor surgery kept getting infected..for a year. They finally tested and found out he had Munchausen's Syndrome and had been injecting fecal matter into the wound. After that, I don't think I'd be shocked by much.

% of people who get training but not licensed

To be licensed and work here as an EMT, you have to be NR certified.

Not sure what you mean by that.

% of people who get training but not licensed

Btw..I keep seeing 120 or 140 hours as the standard for Basics..here its right around 260 hours classroom plus 72 hours clinicals. Still not a huge amount, maybe, but like I said, a lot of time to waste.

% of people who get training but not licensed

Yeah, sorry about that..my post didn't make much sense. I originally only thought of one other student, but then realized that I knew a second one and didn't go back and change it. Got drink coffee *before* posting. I've got a firefighter friend who took First Responder the same time I was...

% of people who get training but not licensed

From my Basic class of 35, I'm only aware of one other person who has followed through and gotten licensed. I can think of 4 or 5 others who I expect to but since I'm not in contact with them, I don't know if they have or not. I do know that of the 20 or so I know about, only two others have...

What do you do on your free time?

:) True, though. Lots of others stuff, too, just as varied.
