Not a problem. They also have hired 16 folks they call "relief factor" so we are all getting time off when we request it. there was a problem with forced overtime about four years ago but they listened and now it's not a problem anymore.
Sorry this took so long. I don't read this as often as I should.
Current, the family plan is about $163.33 every paycheck (I had to find one to see what it was). that is BCBS standard. There is a cheaper one but nobody gets that.
We also have dental ($10.67 per paycheck), vision ($12.12)...
Life is pretty good in Charleston
Down South (actually East but if you look at the state, you'll understand), it's pretty good. they used to have alot of forced overtime but they just hired 16 floaters and force is almost non-existent. In service training is overtime pay, plus holiday pay, 12...
Why?
Before you go to all of the expense, try to find out "why" you aren't getting the job. If there is a bd job reference, bad credit reference, arrest record - you know what I mean.
A good EMT with a good employment record (it doesn't have to be in EMS) should be able to get a bite....
What they are looking for
They are looking for the "reason" why you coulnd't lift that - I had a workers comp injury, I have a shoulder that pops out, etc. Strickly an illegal question.
Update
I don't get much time to read stuff on the computer (blogs I guess this is) but I had some time and thought I would update you.
Been here for a while and it is great! We work both 12 and 24 but most of us prefer 12 hour. I know alot of the older guys like 24 but we have a life....24...
Work
I just got my acceptance letter.
I talked with Captain McGeorge and he showed me where all training time was overtime. Everything over 40 is there. Where I worked previously, you had to go to 56 hours before OT kicked in.
Where are you working now? Do they pay overtime for sick...
Pretty good from our view
Thanks. The benefit package looks pretty good from where we come from. This is basic Blue cross and I only pay 50 cents a pay period! At my other work, I paid over $200 a month for my coverage!
I've just gotten through with the ride along. Everyone was very...
Thanks
Thanks for the info. I really don't want to work non-emergent and need full time to pay bills (we're moving there with all of that cost).
Just so you know, the ad (which I applied to) is for something called "pool". They are full (per the email I got back from McGeorge) but are hiring...
Anyone know anything about South Carolina EMS? I am thinking of moving there due to my wife having a job offer. Just wondered where should I look and where should I stay away from....
She will probably be working in Charleston.
