Is Oregon study still on (prehospital cardiac drugs)?

I'm willing to bet this is what they are aiming to discover.

Is Oregon study still on (prehospital cardiac drugs)?

So yeah study, it was a :censored::censored::censored::censored: show when were told that we were doing it. However frankly in my neck of the woods our ROSC rate is pretty low due to response time due to the rural aspect (esp in Clackamas County). Overall I'm not super opposed to it. If anyone...

    Tattoos

Really? I mean really? Really. Really? If you get a tat for every dead or slightly disturbing death you have might as well change your name to Darth Maul. My uncle's FF tat is a big regret. He was a FF for 15 years, had a bad call where he lost a friend in a structure collapse, lead to...

    Oregon and Washington EMT's

Also, to thicken the pot a bit: If you are NREMT-B you have to take an upgrade course to be Oregon EMT-Basic pretty sure the course just goes over King airways and how to give Epi SQ or IM.

    Repeat Nitro dosing Question

In my defense I tried searching and asking this question before posting so sorry if it's been said here, but: I'm an Intermediate Student and most protocols in my area (Oregon) say OLMC is required (for both I's and P's) if you want to give more than 3 doses of Nitro to patients C/O chest...

Trick to hear BP Better in the Moving Rig???

Practice practice practice. Next time you are on shift have your partner turn the engine on in a parking lot and take their blood pressure.

    Leaving Medic School

Either I'm missing something or but the EKG piece should have been covered in the EMT-I cert...but before you go back make time to figure out your learning style or what you need to do to succeed.

Battle EMS techs, nurses and MD's flooding the medical scene?

My department has had a huge increase in vet's wanting to join us for Fire/EMS. I would say they are either just as or better equipped for dealing medical patients as the civilian side.

    EMT-I training

It's not worthless. I'm in the LAST EMT-I class the state of Oregon is offering however they are going to keep the EMT-I scope in addition to the adoption of the AEMT scope making it so that Intermediates still have a higher scope than AEMT's. Giving Oregon 5 different cert levels.

    Scope Expanded to Combitube

Yeah I call shenanigans as well on this BS about ETT and BLS. No flippin way that basics can do that. Here in Oregon they are giving the Advanced EMT's (AEMT) Intubation but all the county protocols are saying Paramedic only. Oregon Intermediates however (higher cert that AEMT's) can't...

    Any comments on this one......

IMHO...Patient's always have the right to refuse even if it's going to bad for them in the end. Especially with his education it would have been easy to convince him of the good chance that he was possibly be having a cardiovascular incident and that some 02 might make him feel a bit better...

Advice on work environment, ER VS EMS

Taser Barb Removal - ALS or BLS?

my area has purposely left it unmentioned in the protocols and leaves it to the individual EMT/Paramedic/Officer to decide who does the removing.

CA EMT looking to move to OREGON...

^ True statement. B-Jobs are really hard to get in Oregon, however Mercy also does ground services as well.

    Event EMS in America

Locally the local rodeo association pays our fire dept $13 an hour to have one medic with a med box and radio on site during the shows. My department has open sign ups for our EMT's and Medic to sign up for time slots and get paid $12.50 an hour. The thing is that these shows usually guarantee...
