Can MRTs Apply Collars In Connecticut

Hi, I have a question for those of you who live in Connecticut. Are MRTs (Now EMRs) certified in Connecticut allowed to apply a cervical collar on a patient? Or is this strictly an EMT and higher skill. I am just talking about Connecticut. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks James

Make sure they are wicked tight during the practical exam. I was taking a recertification exam once, (CT once had these) and the evaluator was the victim. When it came to tightening the leg straps, I said to him, I would really tighten these, but in deference to him, I told him I would not make...

    Patient assessment help.

Take a look at the National Registry Skill sheets for the Trauma and Medical Patient. That is the order in which things should be done, at least for your skills test. That should provide you with a good roadmap. Here is a link where you can download them for free...

    Memorization tricks

For this level...sure it is. For the purpose of taking an EMT test or being an EMT (for that matter), it is the same. What depth of learning are you concerned with? There are several levels. The level OneCrazyKid108 needs does not require a deep understanding of every metabolic process in...

    Memorization tricks

Memorizing is learning, it is just a technique. Another thing you can try is to create a multiple choice question and have your word as the correct answer. This will help you learn the word and the very act of writing out the definition will help you learn/memorize it.

    Trouble with class

It sounds like you are too stressed out about this. 1) Relax. Stress is like shock. If you don't take care of it, it will just get worse. 2) Forget about the instructor. If you are simply going to blame him for you not understanding the information, then you have already decided to fail...

    Pass/Fail EMT-B Course

Don't worry about what others are doing. The only one you have to worry about is yourself. A lot of becoming an EMT is common sense. If you have common sense you will do well. Example: The patient is having problems breathing. . . Give oxygen. The patient is bleeding ... Stop the bleeding...

    "Pre-Education"

I would find out what textbook you are going to be using, and really start to read it. The 11th Edition of Brady is 1246 pages. Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured is over 1200 pages as well. That should be enough information for anyone. However, one thing you can also...

    Volunteering

I don't live in California, but I would assume there are smaller towns around San Diego that are volunteer. You should check out these communities. I'm sure they would welcome you with open arms. Small communities have a hard time staffing their ambulances 24 hours a day. Daytime hours are...
