I can only attest to the differences between a basic and a medic course. Or rather, what life is like when you're enrolled in a good medic program.
I'm a little more than half way through the 13 month long program. And I LOVE it. It's very hard work, it's constant studying, constant review...
Standing Order: treatments you can perform before contacting the medical control physician for permission.
Protocol: Standard that includes general and specific principles for managing certain patient conditions.
I'm sure there's an easier way to explain it, that's straight out of my...
I recommend the Kaplan book as a great review book... Just make sure that whatever book you choose it has the updated guidelines for CPR. I just spent 40 bucks on a Medic review book that has old guidelines in it for ACLS.
Good luck to you :)

Straight from the ACLS book...
BLS Healthcare Provider Algorithm
Check for responsiveness
Phone 911/Get AED or send second rescuer (if available)
Open Airway, check Breathing
If not breathing give two breaths that make chest rise
If no response check pulse :
if you feel a pulse...
It's not been that long for me... I haven't forgotten how hard the wait is.
Congrats to both of you... You did it. I'm giddy for you both :)
Now send some good vibes my way. Medic test is T minus 7 months for me.
Way to go both of you :)

Insane Medic Student
I would mark unresponsive AND midrange, and note it more specifically in the narrative.

Very sleepy and slightly drugged Medic Student
Congrats!!!!
Congrats on passing, I remember what a load off of my shoulders that was... And how exciting :)
Everyone has offered excellent advice... Here's something I haven't seen, but I've encountered as a new EMT.
Just because some of your counterparts cut corners does not mean you...
Apparently this medic has not only a twin but a triplet... It's amazing how long 24 hours can last when partnered up with these people.
HELLO, I realize I'm new. I'm green. I'm a little nervous... But I'm trying.
These people forget what it feels like to be new. Everyone was new once...
I'm so happy for you :)
I'm in a very similiar position. Up until recently, I was a computer geek. As of March, I'm an EMT. Not just someone who passed NR, but an actual honest to god, gainfully employed EMT.
That being said, I know I'm an excited newbie... I'm doing my best to not be...
My heart breaks for you and your family, especially your wife. I'm in a very similiar situation right now... I wish I had some excellent advice for you, I just don't... Good luck to all of you, I wish you the very best.
