    I also think it depends on where you live. If you live in an urban area, times may vary due to traffic and whatnot.

    Joining the Fire Department

    I think working in Fire/EMS is the best way to go. I did it for 5 years as a volunteer in NY and I regret getting out of it. If you have a volunteer department, join up. You can get alot of the training and certificates you need for free.
