I'm not saying that the two are necessarily one and the same, but I have been on two STEMI calls where the patient was on CPAP. On the other one we ended up running out of oxygen about 5 minutes away from the hospital. We switched to our portable tank, arrived at the ER and they sent us up to...
Exactly, and it isn't an everyday occurrence where we are transporting a patient on CPAP. Just seems to me that it is a potential issue and i'm just trying to think up ways to mitigate it and/or solve it.
Edit: In my original post I meant to say moving to H tanks, not the H tanks.
Background info: So I work for a private company that has two operations within our branch. One operation has 2 ALS rigs that provide 911 and ALS IFT. Our other operation (the one where I work primarily) is 3-4 BLS units that also do 911 and BLS/ALS transport. For 911 calls we respond alongside...
I can see a lot of the more advanced stuff out in my own system, so i'm not super concerned with that. Would be awesome to see how they works codes though. I've only been on 3 so far, but it would be great to see how the EMTs over there work on them and see if it's different from what we do...
Mostly how EMS systems in bigger areas work. If I can't get on with the private service out here then i'll have to start looking elsewhere for work. So mostly a higher volume of calls, a different system. I've heard medics here say that you can get the same amount of experience in 3 months in a...
I'm coming from a system where there is always an ALS response to all calls in our district. All transporting is done by a private, and our medics go along in their rig if it's ALS transport. Our call volume is 5500-5700 calls a year, so nothing compared to Seattle, but quite busy for our...
I have no idea how their system works over there, but I thought it might be really interesting riding out of harborview since it's the only level 1 trauma center around here.
I know the policy that SFD has on ride alongs (found on their website, I cant post links yet). It seems pretty straight forward, but I was wondering where the best place to request to ride would be. I'm from a fairly rural community in WA, so I was thinking it might be a great opportunity to see...
Just curious, does anyone out there wear both their state patch and a NREMT patch? If so, how are they configured? If not, and you hold both certs, then why not?
Newbie!
Just thought I would introduce myself. Just finished my EMT course and passed the NREMT first try at 70 questions. Was not expecting the test to be like that all. I would necessarily call it difficult, but I had absolutely no idea if I failed it or not. It sure felt like I was guessing...
