The fire department that I want to work for says on it's website that it requires a state-level certification in order to work there as a paramedic. However, the school that I want to go to for paramedic education offers both a "Certificate of Proficiency" and an "Associate of Applied Science...

Also, can a paramedic certification program be completed in an online/hybrid program, rather than entirely in-person and an in-classroom setting?

Alright, I'm scheduled for an interview the next few days. I'm applying in the Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey area/division, so if anybody has information specific to this place in terms of the hiring process, it would be enormously appreciated!

Luckily it was only about 18 days of waiting until getting that response for me. However, it seems a confirmation of the interview date may take just as long, if that doesn't come through soon.

Well they finally got back to me via e-mail just over a week ago, inviting me to come in for an interview (:)). I replied with a suggested date and time, but have yet to receive a confirmation call/e-mail. Unfortunately that time is approaching with no word on whether they are even expecting me...

Good for you for not giving up. Eight months though... Where did you apply, if you don't mind saying? I'm wondering if larger city-based operations take longer (due to a higher number of applicants, possibly) to get back to you, if ever.

thanks for the tip, but I have not even had an interview yet, if that's what you're assuming. I'm still waiting for an initial reply after the obligatory (probably automated) acknowledgement e-mail.

Damn, they must have been hungry for new hires in your area. I hope my interview (if I get that far) will be as straightforward and easy.

thanks!:) Well I have my ICS certifications already done thankfully, and in fact included them in my application along with my other certifications. Now I'll just to wait for a response, however long that may take.

How long can you expect to wait for a response after applying? And what does the process look like once started? Aside from an interview, does this company conduct skill assessments candidates?
