Where did you get your start?

Hey Everyone,

I'm just curious how you guys got into the EMS/Fire field, what brought you to it? I was an Explorer with our local FD, i joined it at first because it was just something to do and keep me busy. I didnt actually ever consider this as a career. As an explorer after being there for a year, they allow you to go on 911s. After a few years there, I realized how much I enjoyed going on calls, helping people, how things would change from call to call. Since then I obtained my EMT-B and EMT-I certs, and am going to be heading to medic school this coming year, which i'm super excited about.

Just thought it would be interesting to see where everyone got their start!

I satarted as an Explorer at my local volunteer squad when I was 14. After I went on my first run, I was hooked. Took an EMT class and tested when I turned 18. Moved to NYC and worked there for a few years and became a Paramedic. Now im back in my hometown serving the people that helped raise me.
