Just read an article from the NREMT and its statistics state that only 11% of people working in ems make it to retirement.I was wondering whats you'll thoughts on this.

This will be my 31'st year in EMS. Sadly not much acquired retirement. Not very EMS services offer such since most EMT's abandon EMS as a career and only use it as a stepping stone.
We investigated retirement and actually have started a good plan (401K) and if many stay, will actually do okay.

I will become a PA in a few years. I consider this a promotion and not quitting the business.
