Just ran in to this web site while looking for some statistics. It basically states, "Hold on, soon firetender's generation will be dying and job prospects will be up!"

As the Boomers age, they're going to start needing prehospital and in-hospital care at about the same time, in significant numbers. Think about this: The first of the Boomers turned 65 last year. Absent a massive die-off in the Boomer population, in about another 5 years, we'll start seeing them showing up much more frequently in hospitals, clinics, medical offices, and in various types of assisted living/SNF facilities simply because of the sheer volume. It won't begin to let up for at least another 10 years after that.

And that's the other side of that coin... Caring for the Boomers ain't going to be cheap... One way or another, it isn't going to be nice...

It starts to get even scarier when you look at the esitmates for rates of chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, HTN, kidney disease etc in the next 10-20 years. Not only are we going to get slammed with the boomers, we're going to have all of those people because they are prematurely disabled.

I think it will simply evolve into a "if you can't pay, you can't have medicine" event.
