I just got my EMT-B and will be going onto paramedic next semester. However, I do want to get a job with AMR during that time. The thing is that I want to run emergency calls. I know that certain counties and cities have contracts with AMR to run their BLS calls. I live in Broward County, Florida. Does anybody know what counties/cities near me have contracts with AMR? Thanks in advance.

As a former AMR employee here in california, they now make you start off on BLS calls for 6 months before you can go over to ALS. The only exception to that rule is you may pick up overtime as an ALS shift. Not sure if its the same in Florida or not though, or if that was just with my division.

And as a current AMR Paramedic I can say its not a company wide policy. I started ALS my first day on the job.

Look on AMRs website and you should find a recruiter by the name of Don Balius. He'll let you know where they need people and what they do.
