I see some places offering the classroom portion online. Is that something good to do? Where would you go after completing the classroom portion though? Would you be able to show an instructor that you already completed a portion of the course and skip to the hands on stuff ?

The hybrid emt classes you speak have you attend the skills classes on campus. You have to prove that you know your stuff just like a regular class.

It would depend on your learning style. I enjoyed online classes when I was in college. It worked for me. That said for EMS type classes I would do them in person if I had the choice. EMT class is (should be) alot of hands on learning. Doing the class online and then taking a weekend to do the skills will do you no favors.

Do your research, there are several threads already about hybrid emt classes. Just search for them, or look up percom online.

That being said I have went through both the standard emt class and the hybrid emt class. Personally I like the hybrid class. To me its alot more in depth, at least with the school I am in, the instructors compile the power points from multiple sources, not just one source. Another great thing about the hybrid classes are you can do them around your schedule. I was working 40 plus hours a week plus doing the emt class and working with the volunteer fire department.

If you are not a self motivator then hybrid classes may not be for you, but if your working full time, and wanting to get certified then they maybe for you. Just do your research and make sure that you know what your getting yourself into. If your in Texas than look into Percom Online.
