Ok, ok... hi, I'm a newbie. <_< haha... bad memories from the first couple of months of work just flashed over me, lol. This is a great site!- another great way to procrastinate from my studies. =D

Well anyways, I thought I would introduce myself and ask a question that I've been asking but haven't had any clear answers yet. What recommendations do you have for a stethoscope? I have a couple cheapy ones, but want to invest in a nice one (but not toooo expensive) that I can use for many years. Anyone got a favorite scope they want to brag about?

Thanks!

Welcome!

Hi and welcome to the tribe!! there have been a few threads here about stethoscopes, look in the ambulance and equipment section! :):):)

Hello and Welcome. About your question I use a Litman Classic II and I think it is great. In Canada it cost me about $120 after tax. It is not the top of the line but it is durable.

Take care

Welcome to the life.

A good site for steths is www.allheart.com you can get basic littmans for lower than average prices.

Steths. There are a few good threads here that deal with them.

I'd recommend Google and then see if you can find em on eBay! Nice and cheap!

Litman is a good brand. Like Sabby I use a Litman Classic II and I find it GREAT! I had a Litman Cardiology before. but I lost it! Damn!

If you have long term goals, spend th money for a good one. Close paramedic buddy recommended Littman Cardiology III, said it held up well and was excellent for lung/breath sounds. I found mine online from a med supply site that was around $135-140. Loved it ever since. BTW, welcome to the fold!

Welcome!

My advice--as always with this topic: a scope is a personal purchase. What works for others may not work for you. Try several different ones before committing cash to your own. Find out what you like about different models, then go for the best compromise of likes vs. dislikes vs. budget.

Later!
