Who here is involved in planning and executing MCI and HazMat drills? We are planning one for later this summer and I'm looking for new ideas. We are a rural region with several communities with populations under 5,000 and a half-dozen first response and rescue squads involved, as well as volunteer fire department, law enforcement, and possibly some resources from a regional trauma center.

Got any railroads?

Here's are recent news article:

Rockford, IL. - Railroad tank cars holding thousands of gallons of highly flammable ethanol derailed and exploded in flames, killing a 41-year-old woman as she tried to run to safety from a car stopped at a crossing. Three other people from the same car escaped with severe burns
Hundreds of people were evacuated from homes near the explosion. Eighteen tank cars, all filled with ethanol, or ethyl alcohol, derailed Friday on the edge of Rockford, about 80 miles northwest of Chicago. The wreckage burned through the night, but the fire was dying down Saturday afternoon as federal investigators began collecting evidence.

Or, how about an ammonia leak which I think MN had one last month at a chocolate factory.
