I live in VA, I just got my EMTB. Where can I work with my fresh basic cert?

I really want to get some (possibly lucrative, I'm only making ~<10k/yr in retail at the moment) experience and volunteering at a local vollie fire department trying to get turned over...just for fun and personal experience.

Any suggestions for places to start?

RAA, or one of the privates. Check the phone book...my first non-vollie job was at LifeCare.

What is RAA?

Richmond Ambulance Authority. In our area, I recommend a couple of years there to anyone who wants to make a career out of EMS. It makes you much more hire-able by the fire services, too, which is where you can earn a pretty cush wage.
