Hi, anyone from the Detroit area?

Hey, I recently passed my EMT-B class and am just waiting on my NREMT results. What I am more concerned with is getting a job, my instructor said that Medic One is hiring anyone with a pulse (and a liscense). However I always wondered if working downtown is as bad as everyone makes it sound.

I've always heard horror stories about Detroit, but it's all been second hand information. I'd go insane working down-town, though: traffic wise, and the street layout being fubar

Detroit isn't that bad. I have responded to a few calls there. Personally I prefer working the Downriver area. As for where to work, aim for anything owned by CEMS (Healthlink, DMC Care Express, CEMS, REMS) They pay the best in the area and like to hire new people.
