Hello all!

Nice forums.

Wanted to share something..

Just finishing up my EMT-B class. I did my hospital clinical today. As I was getting ready to leave a code came in. Cardiac arrest. It was just awesome how before the ambulance arrived everyone got gloved up and ready to do CPR in the ER. I did a round of CPR too. While the patient did not make it the doctors paramedics nurses and students kept working even when the family came in.
I really like the way the doctors explained what happened to the patient's family. Also the doctors and paramedics went around and told everyone they did a good job. It makes a student feel a lot better and not like some kind of goober. You can tell that EMS people care about people.
I cannot wait to be part of it full time. Hopefully I will be going on to paramedic school.

Anyway thought I would share that and thank all EMS personnel for the wonderful job they do!

Scott

Welcome! Glad to hear your first code was a positive experience.

Welcome to the tribe and always keep on learning! ^_^:)^_^

Welcome Scott. Nice to meetcha!

Similar experience

I had a similar experience. On a ride-along I was doing as an EMT-B student, we got a code to a local park for an unresponsive man. I got to drop an npa and help my paramedic instructor place a combi-tube. I also got to dodge vomit and bag like I've never bagged before (literally!). While the man was in the ER for a couple of days and ultimately didn't survive, it was a very powerful learning experience for me.

Heh heh.. we are all EMS students. The day you quit being a student in this business, you might as well hang it up.
Welcome!
