I don't get it..... he resigns in disgrace when the tweets were made public (and in the defense of the city, they might not have had grounds to terminate him for being a bigot). Because he wasn't fired, he was able to reapply for his old job, and 1) got his old job after some counseling from a prominent Jewish Rabbi 2) got in trouble after getting his job back in a situation where he was partnered with the son of FDNY’s chief of uniformed personnel (I'm sure their assignment together was just a coincidence) and 3) one of his previous tweets said "saying everyone just wanted to be firefighters, not EMTs"

none of these incidents prevented him from being selected for promotion to firefighter? I know they don't do panel interviews in NYC, but I would have thought these incidents would make FDNY think that maybe they don't want this guy working for them?

I guess if your dad is a former commissioner of the FDNY, you are politically connected enough to overcome any obstacle. Shame the same standards don't apply to a 20 year veteran, and sadly the courts agreed with FDNY in that case... definitely a double standard due to political connections.

So a top step medic makes over $20k less than a comparable FF (base pay).
