I'm so tired of seeing and hearing this:

"Your work history and information provided has been reviewed, however we have selected another candidate for this position."

And from a separate application:

"Following the initial screening process, it appears that you do not possess the minimum requirements for this position."

What in the world am I missing? I was under the impression I had everything I needed for an EMT-B position :glare:

Nonetheless, as some of you know, I'm considering relocating, and I'm heavily considering Flagstaff, Arizona (or around Prescott).

Do any of you live in that area? How is it? What is the job market like? What are some good companies to get on with there for EMT-B, other than American Medical Response?

Annnd for an update:

" It appears that you indicated that you had 3 or more moving violations in the last 3 years. This answer of yes would disqualify you for employment for this position"

So I guess that's why. My driving record is really screwing me over -_-

That'll do it. The ambulance doesn't drive itself and if you're a basic with a bad license then you can't be placed with a medic and some of your partners will resent your record. One of the jobs I went and interviewed for a few months ago the training supervisor said simply that anyone without a license won't be hired (there are plenty of people in Boston without a license) and anyone with more than X amount of violations needs to talk to HR about it that day. Personally, I think twice about working for any company that doesn't require everyone on the ambulance to be able to drive.

Here you have to have a license to drive. Bad records will hurt your chances for a job. If you lose your license eg: one week for speeding, you can't work until it is reinstated. If you can't take vacation for that period then it's time off without pay.

It boggles my mind that there are places that would hire someone who couldn't drive.

I live in Flagstaff... If you have moving violations, your going to be SOL... I would recommend ED tech...

Very nice place to live, but also very expensive (housing). I see your from Florida so it might not seem so bad. Anyway, I would try to find a roommate, second job, or both. I have never lived there, just talked to many who have and this has been the overall consensus.

How do you like like it?

I love it in Flagstaff. Its so pretty. You should see it right now, snow everywhere! I love it. We also have the Arizona Snowbowl. All of ski patrol are EMTs.

Never gets hotter than the upper 80's, and just when you start to get tired of one season, its time for the next.

Yeahh, I've pretty much got my heart set on that at this point. My lease here ends in just another month, so I figured why not?

I assume my driving record wouldn't really matter if I was able to get on with the ski patrol, right? I'm a pretty avid skier too B)

Hey EMTFL. I just recently moved from Tampa, FL to Mesa, AZ. I have been trying to get an EMT job out here, but have had no luck so far. One thing to think about before you move is that you will need to get an AZ EMT license. I thought that since I had my National Registry that it would be all good. But you can only qualify for a 6 month temporary license until you take a 200 dollar refresher course.

I can't figure out why I can't get hired either. My driving record is clean and I just got out of EMT school in May. It's pretty frustrating.
