Another question came to me just now... I am starting EMT tomorrow and just got an email about Fire Standards information sessions for Fall and Spring. Seminole state said you must be enrolled in a EMT program or be Certified as a EMT before you can attend the information session to get the application.

My question is should I get through EMT before I even think about applying to the Fire Academy or should I attend the information session to get started on my application?

If you are able to go then why not? You obviously meet the requirement of being enrolled in an EMT program since you start tomorrow.

I agree, go to the info meeting. The worst they can tell you is "no, you'll have to wait till you pass EMT" and if thats the case, at least you know the info for the academy.

You have to be enrolled or an EMT to attend a fire program?

Well that's just...too bad.

Just depends on the academy and their requirements. Some community college based fire academy requirements are longer than others. In the case of the academy he picked the answer is yes.
