I can't find anywhere in the Central Valley that provides legitimate emergency dispatch training!! Any Californians know a good school or program? I really don't want to do it online. Thanks!
As far as I know, most dispatch jobs provide on-the-job training, as every CAD system is going to operate differently, different policies, different specialized training (whether you go PD/FD/EMS dispatch, or any combination of those). I'm also unfamiliar with the central valley but the only thing that came to mind when I read your post was I know that NCTI offers a 911 dispatch training course. No idea what's involved, what they train you on, etc but it may be a good starting point.
(I'm a 911 dispatcher for a fairly large agency and all the training was provided after being hired...requirements to apply were: a typing certificate of 40WPM or better, high school diploma, and that's about it)
