Ok.. gaining expirence as a medic in a busy 911 system. My next plan of action is to get on a department somewhere but keeping my current job.. I`d be willing to travel to RI, and NH. I live in worcester right now. I know most of the city's and towns up here are civil service, so how does this work? i just turned 31.. How can I look besides (google) for some non civil towns looks for medics?

fom what i read the civil services allows you to pick three towns. How do you know if those towns will be hiring in 1-2 yrs down the road?

Thanks for the info

MA civil service is doing things slightly differently this year, i hear. I think everyone goes into a pool (medic, veteran...etc) and the towns select from that. But i'm not 100% sure on that since I didn't need to take the test this year.

But you're only cut off on age, when you take the test.

ie: you're 31, you take the test at 31...you can get hired when you're 32 because you took the test at 31.

Walpole is non civil service, Sudbury is non civil service, the cape has its own test to name a few.

sorry for the double post, but I just remembered. You may want to look for the "district 14" test...I believe they do some things outside the civil service area, near worcester actually. I think that is the name, one of my buddies took it in 2004 and got on Wayland Fire.

thanks deep for the info.. When is the text test? Its every two years right?

yea I think 2 years from now, MA HRD website should have the dates when they post it.
