Your ticket is good for 2 years. If you look at the card it'll say "Exp Date: 4/1/xxxx". You actually need to get all of your con eds and recert completed and submitted by December 31st of the year before your license expires; the extra 3 months on your license is intended to give the OEMS time to receive and process your paperwork. Lots of folks have said "Oh, I have till April to get this stuff done". No. No you don't. You'll have to re-test if you don't get your paperwork in on time.
Vis a vis con eds:
- for a BLS certification you need 28 hours with a 24 hour recert.
- for a medic certification you need 24 hours with a 48 hour recert.
God help you if you wait till the last 6 months of your certification. Schools know you're desperate and they crank up their fees. A $100 re-cert costs $200 in December.
