Hi,

I've got a strange question and didn't quite know where to post it, so I'm trying here first. Does anyone have any experience with starting and maintaining a fund to be used by co-workers for extra perks that employer may not provide? (ie. to buy a nicer tv, game system, etc for crew quarters.) I've been asked by several co-workers to research setting up a plan where each would contribute a certain amount of money each payday to be used to purchase extra fun things that we could all benefit from and make downtime a little more enjoyable. I've searched on several sites and haven't found any useful information yet. What I'm needing to know is, what are the potential ramifications for doing this? If an employee leaves do they get their contributions back? Is there any legality in preventing an employee that does not participate in contributions from benefitting from whatever is purchased? Is there any kind of contract that needs to be drawn up and signed? Also if anyone has done this, what did you do with the money to keep it safe? Did you open a bank account, or did you buy a safe and limit the access? Any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
