BLS Seattle, WA Area

BLS provider here, worked about a year with an IFT-only company in LA County. Looking to move up to Seattle and go medic. I'm hoping you peeps can give me some advice about the job market up there.

I've spent a good amount of time on this section looking for info on BLS jobs in the Seattle area, but everything I've found is several years old, and I know things can change drastically in that amount of time. New management, contract changes, etc....

So, what are the current recommendations for BLS ambulance jobs up in Seattle, WA area?

So I am sure some one would want me to point out that this topic is often talked about and there should be lot of resources if you research past posts.. With that said the quick answer would be, don't move here expecting you are going to find a job. Make sure you have something in place prior to moving. Next is becoming a paramedic in the actual King County area is not easy and requires that you either get hired by a FD then get selected to go through the medic program after you have been on for three years. If you have three years experience you can apply and test for KCM1, as a matter of fact you have 2 days left to test if you can pull it off, but being out of state it doesn't seem likely.. As BLS goes it is either AMR or Trimed, don't know much about how often they hire, but I am sure if you research it you can find out more. Best of luck!

I will add that if you can get in a Medic program up here it is a awesome place to be. I would just caution you on jumping up here expecting that you can get hired in a year or two.. It is super competitive up here. Talked to friend the other day about getting hired with AMR and he said that they do hire pretty regularly, but with that being said it is still competitive and keeping your position is not guaranteed either! Especially at Trimed from what I hear.. If there is something more specific I can help you with message me and let me know and I will do what I can to point you in the right direction!

We're slowly turning blue and it's not as Trump as the Hicks make it seem. I'm in the same boat and it's probably more liberal here in Houston than where I grew up in the High Desert.

Pay is better, lots of freedom, few hippies, we can pick on the conservatives when they axe their own welfare, and medic school is far more available.

I think this is a strong argument for Texas. Also, no income tax. Also, also, cheap housing.
