Job Description

SCOPE:

CHSi is looking for multiple Paramedics (EMT-P) on all three shifts to support our mission of staffing temporary shelters set up by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The incumbent provides assistance during medical screenings and for emergent access to healthcare for children aged 13-17 who live in a temporary shelter for children. CHSi is proud to offer this work in support of an important government contract, offering full-time schedules at this site for a period of approximately 90 days. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fully unencumbered Paramedic (EMT-P) License required in state of employment or practice.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Clean criminal background check.
  • Certifications PHTLS, ACLS, PALS and BLS
  • 3 years experience
  • Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) or child protective services check.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with routine and daily medical needs of the children, mostly ages 13-17.

  • Provides EMT services to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
  • Systematically assess the urgent or emergent health needs of patients, analyze data, and formulate a plan of care, with other members of the medical team, which is realistic in relation to the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.
  • Recognizes and treats illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensure and regulations of state employment or practice.
  • Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.
  • Identifies and records signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
  • Thoroughly exercises skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making on a daily basis.
  • Makes independent judgments and prioritizes workload.
  • Demonstrates proven success in stressful environments.
  • Pursues professional development activities and continuing education to ensure currency with present practices and trends in healthcare and specifically in the practice of emergency medical treatment.
  • Monitors reconciliation of financial transactions and ensures contract charges are applied uniformly.
  • Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


OTHER DUTIES:

  • Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy. Participates and supports safety meetings, training and goals. Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Encourages co-workers to work safely. Identifies “close calls” and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Assists in active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, JCAHO, AAAHC, and other mandated regulations/standards.
  • May serve on the OSHA VPP, Safety, and Wellness Committees.
