If this question has been posted before I am sorry in advance.

Well, it's more of a hypothetical than anything. I have a family reunion coming up in Oregon and I currently live in Arizona. I just got my AZ license a couple months ago and am wondering if I would be allowed to help up in Oregon in the following hypothetical situation:
Family reunion is taking place at/around a lake someone gets hurt be it family or another person at the lake. I'm a registered EMT, would I be allowed to help them until OR state EMS responds or am I just a common citizen with EMS training that can't be used? I hope this makes sense!!

Of course you would be allowed to provide care to a family member out of state. You'd be providing basic first aid prior to EMS arrival, it's not like you're pushing drugs.

What he said. Just basic first aid. If you had a BVM, and/or some airways you could probably use them too...as long as its just on your family. Best thing is to address any major life threats (eg a major bleed) and get a good history (OPQRSTI, SAMPLE) for the responding unit. You do not have an unrestricted medical license, so you have to be under a medical director to practice under your full scope as an EMT.
