Just starting out at 34 (35 in June) after leaving a successful life in sales.
Starting out by volunteering at a local F.D. whom is paying for my EMT-B to start out and then my Fireman-1. They only have one paid medic, but are going to hire 3 in the next couple years...I hope to be one of them:)
I must be CRAZY to start out at this age...but I'm doing it!

Crazy nah. Just a late bloomer. My best friend started as a cop when he was 34 says it was the best decision of his life. You are older you know what you want and how to get there.

I'm kind of in your boat too...planning school at 35, will be 36 when I finish. =)

There's a 55 year old in my EMT class and several other people over 30. It's extremely common, so you're not crazy at all.

Welcome and good luck with your classes and eventually getting that job!
