Am i missing something... What is an AEMT??

I'm a NREMT-P is it the next level up? Where would u go to school for it? From what I've read it looks the same as a paramedic..

You have really been out of the loop. AEMT stands for "Advanced EMT" and is the new provider level that came out of the National EMS Scope of Practice. Provider levels are being streamlined and made consistent in all states (or at least being attempted).

It is the new intermediate level.

Not to thread-jack here but I'm in the last few weeks of my advanced class in Oklahoma and I've heard from a few people that when we apply and test for our OK state license, that our license to practice will be at an Intermediate level. I know advanced and intermediate are very similiar if not exactly like, but does that make us I-85's, I-99's, or just plain Intermediates as far as OK is concerned? Anyone have any insight into this?

It makes you...whatever the scope is for your service :)

I-85 and I-99 are NREMT terms. In North Carolina you would be an NC EMT-I.

What this likely means is that since you're coming from an AEMT program that you will not have to take a bridge if or when your State adopts AEMT and drops Intermediate.

AEMT has it's own scope of practice established that most states are going with. Each state does have the right to add different things as well. I-85 and I-99 are a thing of the past... they are no more. So you will be an AEMT.
