Alabama here as well. Mobile. Bishop State.
All I'm authorized to tell you is that the test will be 150 questions, you will be allowed to "skip" questions and return to them and to study your Advanced interventions.
Memorizing Resp, HR & BP for Adult, Neonate, Infant, Child & Geriatric is always a must. Know your drug cards. KNOW YOUR DRUG CARDS. Know the definitions for Biot's, Cheyne-Stokes, Kusmaul resp, et al.
Know with confidence under what circumstances we are and are NOT to Tx with a supraglottic airway device.
Shell out the 20 bucks and buy yourself a copy of the EMS field guide. It's small, waterproof and perfect for whipping out anywhere: lunchtime, in the car line while picking your kid up from school, etc. In it are guides for all the V/S for Adult, infant, child; GCS, Rule of Nines, etc so you have a convenient way to brush up on these and get em hardcore memorized so you won't get nervous and be confused on the test. You can even bring it with you to study last-minute in the waiting room until they call on you and make you lock it up.
Let me know if you hear of anyone actually HIRING AEMTs. F*cked if I know of anyone. I may have just paid for the most expensive minimum-wage job-training on the face of the earth because it's clear I'm not going to find a job on an ambulance this year. My only hope is to pay out of pocket for HAZWOPER and try to find a minimum wage job at a factory or something as a safety gal.
