Ok. here is my opinion: when you have a patient who has no history of any type of reactive airway disease (ie COPD) then the key to turning these patients around is nitrates. Nitrates, Nitrates, Nitrates!!!!!! Lasix is nice, but takes too long. Give it, but dont expect it to turn them around...
Hey all,
Its been to long. Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Life has been a little on the crazy side. Since my last log in I have gotten reciprocity to another state, moved to that state, started at a new station, and started medic class.
I am now in a full time medic program...
Exactly, Mass. is a little behind on a few things. Mass. is broken up into five different regions. Each region has there own medical director that sets the parameters as to what the emts and such in their area are allowed to do. I/E even though I'm certified by the state, if I'm working in...
No, in Massachusetts the medic assist. course is an add on that certifies basics to ....
"spike a bag"
set up a twelve lead
use spO2 meter
and a few other "intermediate skills" that don't fall under the Mass. basic protocalls.
does anyone know where I can go in Massachusetts to take this class?
I'm gonna do some research myself, but I thought this would probably be the best place for info.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Emergency Vehicle Operations Course. Has anyone else had to do anything similar? Today we had to take a road test to drive the ambulance. It consisted of driving the truck through an obstacle course and then an actual road test.

Hey guys,
Just letting everyone know that I got the job. I landed a position with a busy city EMS system. I start on Monday. I can't wait. I'm very excited as well as scared. I'm looking forward to trading stories with all of you.
I took the state practical skills exam, had to wait about a week and a half, then I took the state written. In Mass. you get your ticket right after you pass the test. I guess it all depends on what state your dealing with. Of course Mass doesn't accept the National Registry.
Just curious if anyone has ever seen this before or know what causes it?
My patient was a 41 year old female c/o chest pain.
Vitals were P: 60, BP: 100/60, R: 15 and regular, Skin: pale-cool-moist.
Although her pulse was 60 it wasn't regular. It would beat 12 or 13 times in a...
Nice to meet you.
I just finished my class, actually I just took the state exam in Massachusetts today and got my ticket.
The class I took was awsome. I was lucky enough to have great instructors who prepeared me very well for the exams. As far as class goes, all I can say is that you...
I've trained in the arts of Aikido, Judo, traditional Japanese combat Ju-Jitsu (BJJ comes from that), Kung-fu, and Shotokan Karate. In my opinion MMA all the way.
Any UFC fans out there?
Hi all. I'm new here. I just finished my EMT-B class. I've taken the practical I'm just waiting on a date for my written. The class I took was pretty interesting. Not one person in the class knows each others real name. Everyone was given there own nickname. i.e. sleepy, stretch...
