    ATTENTION CATALDO EMT's

So, you knuckle-heads read a story that was planted by AMR with the media (in the form of a Letter to the Editor by the General Manager of AMR Massachusetts), the story is distributed nationally, and you take the bait that AMR planted as gospel? I hope you put more thought in taking care of your...

    ATTENTION CATALDO EMT's

Cataldo EMTs and Paramedics This week we (AMR Newburyport) EMT's learned that Cataldo will likely be awarded the 9-1-1 contact in Newburyport and Salisbury. Many of the AMR employees who will be inherited by Cataldo believe that union representation is essential to our job security. No union...

    Internships in Boston area.

Let me see, 1 or 2 (or more) police officers, 3-6 firefighters, and maybe an additional fire officer, and 2 PRO personnel (one with clinical training and one with technical skills (like a refrigeration technician)) at the scene of a single patient encounter in Cambridge, and that's an...

    Internships in Boston area.

You're at a great school and in a great program. Do yourself a favor, and get out of Masachusetts to get experience. Go to a state like Maryland or Virginia, which have a real statewide EMS infrastructure, not the smoke and mirrors that exists in Massachusetts.

    Internships in Boston area.

I'm not sure that there's much good to learn at Pro. It was a morbidly obese fellow from there who occupied the most space in the State House chambers lobbying in support of the change in paramedic ambulance staffing in Massachusetts from P/P to P/B on behalf of the Massachusetts Ambulance...

    AMR, American MEDIOCORE Response

I'm about to memorialize (not celebrate) my 5 year anniversary as an EMT-P at American MEDIOCRE Response, AKA: American Medical Response. Here are mY OPINIONS and observations: I can say that I've learned more about bad management practices than I have about good ones at AMR over the past...

Why do YOU carry a personal jump/trauma bag?

I carry golf clubs, hockey skates, and a gym bag (along with the occasional dirty sportswear). Not one band aid, no pocket mask, etc. My job ends at the end of my shift, and begins at the beginnig of my shift. Anything in between (other than family) is someone elses job. I will call 9-1-1 for...

Can you use your EMT Work hours towards PA school

REMT-P and PA-C here. PA programs look upon previous clinical experience favorably. I have a friend who serves on an Admissions Committee for a PA/MS program, and he told me that they take an applicant's direct patient care contact into consideration (not necessarily low call volume EMS...

    Atropine & Bradycardia

Fair question. No to Atropine. Stable. RX: O2, NTG, ASA and keep and eye on 12 lead and rate. You could always bounce the RX off of Telemetry Control. Personally, I wouldn't fiddle with his heart rate.
