Obviously not the same thing. But in my opinion the skills are similar. It's easier to draw blood than to start peripheral ivs. Drawing blood helped me familiarize myself with sticking people so when medic school started I was a lot more comfortable.

No you can get hired at any of the aforementioned companies without experience. However, experience is a major plus even if it's at a strictly IFT company. I got hired with Americare with no experience at all. It's a waiting game. Just stick with it!

Americare is far better than some of the other BLS companies in LA and OC. They pay you for the full 24 hours if u work a 24 and 12/hour if your on a day car. I would highly recommend going with them. If your looking to do 911 which is nearly impossible to get into without prior EMT...
