I didn't know I had a back injury. It was supposedly just a muscle strain. I didn't find out about the disc involvement until last December when my doc finally decided to give me an MRI. Its extremely mild but its there. ER tech is a good idea rob. They hire a lot of medics in the ER's...

    Just a little venting.....

Well, its starting to look like my DDD and mild L5-S1 herniation are going to knock me out of EMS..and I only just started a year ago! Its become apparent that working as a EMT is just making it worse and exacerbating it, regardless of physical therapy/weight loss/anti-inflammatories. Worst...

    Medic school help??

hello I can't agree with medichopeful more. A good understanding of A&P is VERY helpful. With that, a lot of things will fall into place. Also, as the class progresses and you learn treatment modalities and drugs, you'll understand WHY you're doing what you're doing and how its affecting your...

Thanks for all the feedback ven I appreciate it, and have been researching more into every possible explanation you gave. Also, I picked up a book about fluid/electrolyte balances to better understand all of that. We went over it in medic class, but very limited.

    Moo

I'm going to take a guess and say she took her calcium incorrectly causing hypercalcemia. That would at least explain the muscle twitches and generalized severe pain, and it could account for her HTN as well. Just my guess though.

    pharmacology question

It just said morphine, nothing about morphine sulfate. But sulfate and sulfa drugs differ in their chemical makeup don't they? Anywho, thanks for the input everyone, I was just curious and it was a question that was kind of nagging at me.

I have not started my medic yet (my class starts July 10th woo!) So I do not have a very large knowledge base regarding pharmacology. I noticed the other day that a pt. of mine had an allergy to morphine, however was prescribed tylenol #4's and hydrocodone. This made me curious, since the pt...
