not a lot more?
lol correct me if i am wrong, but i thought Paramedics, NREMT Paramedics at that, were more than just a little more advanced than a First Responder. ionno...RT
epi doesn't convert the rhythm, it's an alpha1/beta1 agonist.
yes you would hang the amio maintenance @ 1mg/min since you initially used the boluses(300mg->150mg). you wouldn't want the patient going back into what caused you to give the boluses in the first place would you? and just because...
In Florida, you can take a First Responder course and EMT course under 18 years of age, but it is through a Dual-Enrollment program only. You must be 18 years old at the time of certification for EMT.
I'm probably the twentieth person to say it, but look for a local fire department with an...
Of course always handle the ABCs even if it means having to remove/replace the trach IF you have poor compliance or the pt remains in resp distress, but where I live, transport times are 4-6min, and if I can properly oxygenate the pt, I will leave it to the specialists.
You caught me in a brain fart, that's what I get for multitasking and half-reading the OP. For some reason I pictured the pt with an et, but it's actually a stubby trach tube, as you said below the larynx. Thank you for the heads up lol. Disregar:wacko:d my original post, wow
if you have ANY trouble with the trach patient on a vent, d/c the vent and bag with 100% o2 (i would make sure the cuff on the patient's tube is inflated if necessary). i would suggest that you NEVER, let me repeat, never, remove the patient's tube. you run the risk of causing a laryngospasm...
I agree that would definately be a problem but if you need to do it in order to keep the pt alive, then go where you most likely think the landmark is. Do No Harm is good, but sometimes not doing crap can kill them.
I figured that was about right. I found this report online compiled for the American College of Emergency Physicians http://www.acep.org/workarea/downloadasset.aspx?id=4814(link to the PDF file) and apparently, many medics are allowed to work up their level of education. Medics in the ER is...
Congrats on getting your certs. The hiring situation is pretty bad down here too, we get stuck working private ambulance and ER Tech positions in the meantime. I made the mistake of opting out of the general ed classes at the 4-year college where I got my Fire/EMT/Paramedic certs. The best...
