IIRC I don't believe Zoll has a similar app. That's one of the things I do not like about the Zoll Vent. While it's not difficult to operate, if I only use the darned thing only every great once in a while, it's not easy to be come truly proficient with it. A reasonable simulator/emulator would...

    Vents

That's about how I would assess them. The Z Vent won't do some modes that are used in the ICU but it will get the job done and can do long distance transports and for EMS use, you're not going to use those ICU modes anyway. In my ED and hospital, we do use Hamilton vents but we just start our...

I use the Zoll Ventilator. It's not bad. Not great either but it does get the job done. It'll do the "usual" modes and appears to be reasonably well tolerated by patients. It's definitely way better than a PLV-102... ;)

    New Zoll monitor.

As long as it works and (at least the AED part of it) is intuitive to use, the end users can be taught the buttonology. I would consider it a bonus if the device is basically firefighter-proof... or at least firefighter-resistant. 😂

    [18m almost 19m] I'm freaking out.

Pretty much ALL of us here have been in your shoes. You haven't even STARTED the course and you're scoring in the 70's? That's actually not bad at all.... Now all that being said, put away ALL of those apps and don't even THINK about touching those until you're at least 1/2 way through the...

    NR BLS Inactive to ALS

I never had an active NREMT-B when I went for my NREMT-P cert. My understanding is that one still only needs to meet the minimum requirements to enter P school and then upon completion, they send off their approval for you to take the exam. If your state ALSO needs to approve, then the STATE...

Looking for a summer A&P course in the Bay Area

De Anza and Foothill Colleges just might have what you're looking for. Those courses aren't going to be easy to get into, they're usually in very high demand.

@Jim37F Congrats on the team getting ROSC! If he has no neuro deficits, that's a huge win for everyone, from the wife through the hospital teams getting him through all that.

    Questions about CPR

OP: A lot of what you're asking about is easily searchable on Google or any other search engine that you might be inclined to use. The deep dive into those subjects can take quite a while to understand the reasons something may or may not be used or implemented.

    Questions about CPR

I've had a couple ROSC in the field over the years. One was a pure CPR save... because I caught it within seconds of the patient going pulseless. I've had more than a few ROSC events in the ED for the same reason. None walked out of my ED... they all ended up either going to a cardiac center or...

Tell us the Times you've "F***** up" on a call

Not quite: The application of handcuffs is often the trigger for incarceritis. The actual cause of incarceritis is, of course, some kind of criminal activity which results in the therapeutic application of handcuffs, which triggers the release, and potential release, of a wide variety of...

No. I just didn't list it... ;) That being said, Incarceritis has so many symptoms... 😂

Tell us the Times you've "F***** up" on a call

While I'm not the person you're asking, MOST of us on the board here have seen patients do exactly this. I'll answer your question more generally: they do it for lots of reasons. They do it for meds, a sandwich, a place to sleep, some attention (from who varies...), and so many more reasons...

Have you ever used your EMT skills when you are off duty?

Pretty much same as MMiz.... the soft skills of staying calm, critical thinking, and triage/prioritizing are used every day and that's not limited to EMS-type situations. As to the other skills, I rarely use those outside of work. Why?? Outside of work, I'll call 911. If I have to intervene...

I made a mistake, any advice?

As an ALS provider, I do not start an IV line on everyone (patient) in my ambulance. Not everyone needs one. That being said, I will usually check BGL on my patient if I'm starting a line. If I have an indication to start a line, then checking a BGL doesn't require an additional stick as I've...

I made a mistake, any advice?

At the BLS level, what you're seeing should be a very high alarm for getting an ALS provider to this patient's side as fast as possible. While I'm not necessarily super enthralled that you didn't check a blood glucose level, having a somnolent/voice responsive patient with a low BP should set...
