I check every patient now because of this... I was doing clinicals at a hospital in my area. Patient was brought in, medics said they believed it to be a drug overdose. She had fell down 14 stairs and had a laceration on the back of her head. She had an altered mental status and was vomiting. I...
What I meant by treat the patient not the monitor was.... The person who posted this states that unless the monitor says Myocardial Infart (doesn't matter if there is ST elevation or depression) they cannot transport to a STEMI center. That is ridiculous. ST elevation or depression indicates...
What happened to treat the patient not the monitor? This has been beaten into my head from day one of medic class. My instructor told us that there are still older medics out there that do not know how to read a 12 lead because they have never been taught how or have not had any extra training...
I saw a 9 year old girl get hit by a car in front of my house (i live right next to the elementary school). The hardest part at the time was I wanted to help this little girl so bad but I didn't know what to do, it helped me strive to become an EMT. Now that I'm an EMT I know I can confidently...
I saw a 9 year old girl get hit by a car in front of my house (i live right next door to the elementary school) and the hardest part at the time before being an EMT was not knowing what to do or how to help.
Just from my experience... I'm a full time mom and wife, I work a full time job, Going to Medic School Part Time, and completing a crap load of clinical requirements for my medic program, it's not easy. Add to your workload little by little, you'll know when it's too much. Who knows you may be...
I'm currently halfway through my Paramedic program. Our text book goes into GREATER (like M.D. level) detail than what our program requires. It's a great resource for information but if you are struggling with the exams/tests... My advice is to take notes based upon the material your instructor...

Need advice on writing narratives for run reports. We didn't practice it enough in basic and I don't run anywhere. I'm hopelessly lost at this time. Can anyone direct me in the path of how to write an organized and complete narrative. Any help would be GREAT
Congratulations! I as well just got certified in IV last week. My first round of clinicals is this week. In lab we had to practice on our classmates with a butterfly.
Im finishing my 1st quarter of paramedic, I had no experience prior to entering the course, the only experience I had was clincals from my EMT-B. In my area there are no volunteer stations that allow out of township to run (aka city folk). It's been a struggle to keep up with the other students...
In our Paramedic class we are having a review session. Each class has been divided into teams to come up with a game each team has a different topic. Any ideas on a game for Anatomy and Physiology for about 90 students?
I've been trying to find a department to run with near Middletown, Ohio. Does anyone know of any department near this location in need of Volunteer EMT-Bs?
Since I obtained my EMT-B in March I still study at least 3 days a week 2 hours a day. I practice drills with my coworker (whom also is an EMT-B). I read the case studies books. I also work with a Paramedic, he's my mentor and an aunt who is an LPN helps me with the physiology and anatomy part.
