Yes. It's actually not EMT, It's "Volunteer Fire Department" with the state of Florida seal. It's my badge from Orlando. Unfortunately I don't do it anymore since I'm no longer in Orlando, but I still carry it around for some reason :P
I get this a lot, but only because I carry an EMT badge in my wallet. EVERY TIME someone sees that when I pull out my money or ID, I hear "Are you really a cop man?" or "dannng I would have never guessed you were a detective."
I'm like WHAT?
Yeahh, I've pretty much got my heart set on that at this point. My lease here ends in just another month, so I figured why not?
I assume my driving record wouldn't really matter if I was able to get on with the ski patrol, right? I'm a pretty avid skier too B)
I too consider your post to be quite ignorant. As a matter of fact, I take quite offense to it. There IS a science to fighting fire. Sure, you put out the fire, but there are things to know that you CANT DO. I lost two friends in a flashover because they weren't trained properly, so don't...
Annnd for an update:
" It appears that you indicated that you had 3 or more moving violations in the last 3 years. This answer of yes would disqualify you for employment for this position"
So I guess that's why. My driving record is really screwing me over -_-
I'm so tired of seeing and hearing this:
"Your work history and information provided has been reviewed, however we have selected another candidate for this position."
And from a separate application:
"Following the initial screening process, it appears that you do not possess the...
I can't really say where I truly want to live, because I'm still not certain. Part of me wants to stay in Florida, but part of me doesn't. So it's either: Florida, Colorado, or North Carolina. One of those.
NONE of those places gave me an interview. I even called each place to check on...
I guess I based it on what I was told. At the time, I was living in Orlando, and there were no current openings for fire school. Everything had a waiting list, so I did EMT first.
Currently, I'm in Saint Augustine, and was considering First Coast Technical Institute. They have classes...
Yes, that was me.
Essentially I want to be a firefighter. I believe I would enjoy medic, but I can't say for certain since I haven't worked as an EMT yet. And truthfully, I don't want to hold such a huge responsibility and be the one "in charge" right now (obviously).
I DO want to...
So I'm at another crossroad and I've been told so many different things, I have no clue what to do.
My goal is Firefighter Medic. However, I'm not sure if I should go to fire school first, then medic, or attempt medic, then fire.
Here in Florida I hear that they have such a shortage of...
Well, I definitely want to go to medic school, it's just a matter of when. I want to gain some experience in the field first, because I hear jumping straight into medic isn't such a great idea.
Yeah, I've tried the ERs and have applied at six different hospitals. NONE of them picked me up.
I'm kind of running out of ideas. The one place that hires non-drivers that I applied with says they want six months experience. How in the world do I gain experience if no one will...
I'd do it, and was planning on it at one point. It's a nice starting point, in my opinion. SeaWorld was hiring for EMTs but they've unfortunately already filled the position.
Just don't read into their questions too much or you'll start to confuse yourself. Answer the question that is being asked.
And look for the "which of these is NOT" and the "all of these EXCEPT" questions. I had quite a few of those
Surprisingly though, I passed on my first...
Hey guys,
I'm currently in FL and certified here as an EMT, but also have my national registry. I've been heavily considering moving to Colorado, but I'd of course have to apply through the state for my Colorado EMT.
Nonetheless, I'm trying to figure out which state would be best to live...
