    Call 911?

The pt was not injured, simply drunk. I guess my question is at what point do you call EMS when you have a drunk pt? I know that alcohol poisoning, for example, can be quite dangerous.

    Call 911?

Here's a situation I was faced with and would like to know what you'd do...keep in mind that I am simply a lay rescuer. Came across an inebriated male. He was vomiting, talking nonsense, etc. He was lying on the ground, was too dizzy and drunk to get up, and at time began shivering and...

Do you raise their legs since they complain of dizziness/faintness? Do you put a cold ice pack or ice on their head?

    Breathing Incident

I would like to run this issue by you folks. Please advise the steps a lay rescuer should take. A female is complaining of being unable to breath, but is able to speak and it's clear she is wheezing and getting oxygen in. She is also complaining of bad pains on the side of her abdomen and...

    Basic CPR Question

Hi everyone, I have a few other questions that have arisen. 1. With a conscious choking infant, aside from the back slaps, do you give chest compressions as well? 2. At what point do you administer CPR to a choking victim - once they have lost consciousness? 3. With an unconscious...

    Basic CPR Question

Okay, that makes sense. And two last things here. If in the middle of a rescuer's cycles of breathing/compression a pt starts coughing/breathing/etc...does the rescuer stop the CPR and put the pt on his or her side to await EMS? Also, prior to using the AED, should the rescuer always do the...

    CPR Kit

I realize now that the gloves are probably unnecessary. I found a really compact face mask keychain actually. It's circular and less than 2 inches in diameter. Thanks for the info.

    CPR Kit

Anyone have any recommendations for a CPR keychain with a face mask and a pair of gloves? I'm looking for one that can actually fit into my pocket comfortably along with my wallets, keys, etc and not bulge out completely. Thanks, CFMAN

    Basic CPR Question

    Basic CPR Question

Here's a very quick CPR question. I learned to Look, Listen, & Feel, and then feel for pulse. In the event that the person if no breathing & there is no pulse, you perform CPR. What if there is no breathing but the pt has a pulse? Do you never perform CPR if a pulse is present?
