    The agency I work for has the ability to transfer a very low priority call to a 'Nurse Hotline' (pretty much just a ED nurse at a desk) and if the nurse, dispatcher, and caller agree, the EMS unit will be canceled off the call and caller can get family/public transportation or such to take them...

    Dispatchers I work at the primary PSAP in my County. We take all 911 calls, dispatch fire and EMS and then transfer Law Enforcement calls to the Sheriff's Office.;)

    Radios Fire, EMS, and LEO in the county I dispatch in run on a Narrow Band VHF system. And we use Motorola HT1550 for portables at my FD :ph34r:

    Mine was pretty easy, "fly" because I'm a pilot and "wnc" because I live in Western North Carolina.
